The Bard

William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616)
In the summer of 2011 my family and I went to Stratford on Avon for the wedding of a niece. We stayed for a week, and did the rounds of the various buildings that had connections to Shakespeare. While there is a certain amount of scepticism that The Bard is the author of all the works he is credited with, these doubts do not extend to anyone in Stratford. I might admit to having been highly successful at avoiding reading Shakespeare during my school days, but having had to help out my children during theirs I actually really enjoyed his writing – and I loved the history that surrounds him.
